The Second Marathon (Triathlon? Iron Man?):
Saturday, January 26, 2016 I was diagnosed with metastasized breast cancer. It has spread into my brain, bones and liver. And so, another sudden journey begins. I am not sure where it will lead, but I already know there are a lot of good stories here. Most of my life, I lived in California, USA. From 2011-2015 I lived in Germany. It was there that I was diagnosed and treated with my initial Breast Cancer. But, now, only 3 months into our move to London, I have this new diagnosis. Once again, I find myself in need of an outlet, and with a desire to share my experiences and knowledge with others. I intend to laugh and learn and share and grow. And, I hope you will come and laugh and learn and share and maybe grow a little, too. I intend, as always, to include anecdotes, information, insights about the differences among US/German/UK medical systems, and so forth. I will be as involved and as healthy as I can be for as long as I can be. Please feel free to comment and check in as the mood hits you.
The First Marathon:
On Thursday, April 18, 2013 I found out that I have breast cancer. Sunday, April 21, 2013 I started this blog. It may grow and evolve over time. But, for now it has two purposes.
- To give me an outlet- I plan to write about the entire process, because, frankly, I don’t think I could not do that! For family and friends wanting a quick check in to see where I am at this stage of the game, this will be an easy 1-stop place to check.
- I hope to use it as a clearing house for useful information, websites, etc that I come across that may help other women or families face similar challenges going forward. I tend to be a collector of information, so I might as well offer up what I find and experience to be of use to anyone else who cares to take a glance.
I don’t know what this journey will be like. But, I have a feeling I may have some things to say along the way. So, please feel free to browse, lurk, comment, email me, etc. For the latest, click on “Blog Posts” above.
